The next Mobile Food Pantry will be on Friday November 18.  This is sponsored by the Woodstock (Noon) Rotary Club. We start passing out numbers at 1:00 pm.  This will be the last food truck until February 2017.  Please come and help!

Pastoral Leadership Change

On Sunday August 14 was Pastor Tom Rogers retired as Redeemer’s pastor.  We are so very grateful for his time with us and all that he accomplished.  Our new interim pastor is Debbie Kelly.  She is a recent graduate of the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.  We are excited that she has chosen to serve at our church!

Snow Angels Craft Fair

Our Snow Angels Craft Fair on December 3 is currently full.  Please send a message to craftfair@rlcw.org if you want to be placed on the waiting list.

Daytime Drop In Resumes

WACM’S Daytime Drop-in Center at Redeemer for those experiencing homelessness will begin another year of ministry at 7:00 am. on Thursday November 3.
After the PADS guests eat breakfast the Drop In Center opens. The team cares for the computer center, personal items station, television, coffee machine, and  snack table. The team also monitors the rest rooms and the laundry schedule. They have an opportunity to talk with the guests and with one another.
As noon approaches a team from one of the WACM churches brings in a hot homemade lunch and serves it to both the guests and the volunteers. Clean up follows and the PADS bus picks up the guests and takes them to the next site –another church in McHenry County.
If you are interested in this ministry in any way please contact John Hudson, the coordinator.

Donations Needed

We are looking for donations for white outdoor LED Christmas lights to decorate our bushes.  Please bring them in to the church office.  We will start putting them up after Thanksgiving.

Property Report

Our property team has been busy sprucing things up.  Thanks to the work of many volunteers our kitchen was thoroughly cleaned, the bushes have been trimmed, the lawn is being mowed every week, the bathrooms are looking better, there is less debris on our church grounds, the bathroom fan switches have been replaced, and Pastor Debbie’s office is being remodeled.  Thanks so much!!

Spiritual Life Prayer Cell

Churches are increasingly depending on small cell groups as a path to spiritual growth and discipleship. We are excited to announce that we are forming a cell or small group that focuses on prayer.  The group will meet on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm with the following schedule:
Week 1: Prayer at the Hudson’s home
Week 2: Evening Prayer with the Church Council
Week 3: Prayer at the Byers’ home
Week 4: Taize Prayer at First Congregational Church in Crystal Lake
Week 5: Prayer Walking
Dave Byers will continue to lead us in singing.  If you are interested in joining this group please tell Susan, Dave, or Pastor Debbie.

New Playground Equipment

Did you see our new playground equipment?  It was a true group effort! Thanks to Kimberly Zinke for finding this great set and Andy Zinke and friends for breaking it down and hauling it over to the church. Then Joe Scholpp and Bruce Friedman took over and put it back together and Bruce gave it a good power washing.  It looks great and it’s solid as a rock!

Annual Ministry Report

Our annual meeting as required by the ELCA was held on Sunday January 31 at 11:15 am. As part of the annual meeting the church distributes an Annual Ministry Report, which includes things like detailed financial spreadsheets, the proposed budget for 2016, statistics about membership, baptisms, weddings, and funerals, and reports of all of our various ministry teams.  The report is available to all who attend the church.
If you have not received your copy of the 2016 Annual Ministry Report please see Susan Hudson, Bruce Friedman, or Pastor Tom.

WACM Cook Books

WACM’s latest fundraiser is a Cook Book featuring recipes submitted by the awesome home chefs from the churches of Woodstock.  The cost is only $15. Woodstock Area Community Ministries helps those in need with many important programs including Daytime Drop In, the Share the Warmth Coat Drive, and Direct Assistance. Help support WACM by picking up a copy of the book from our WACM representative Charlotte Scholpp.

Time and Talent

We need everyone’s support to keep our worship services running smoothly.  We need volunteers to serve as greeters, ushers, readers, and communion assistants.  Please fill out a  Worship Time and Talent sheet and return it to the church office or sign up on the clip board at the Welcome Table.  Your willingness to serve will be appreciated by all.

Stay and Pray

Every Sunday we “Stay and Pray” at the conclusion of every worship service for those with personal needs.  All are invited to gather around the prayer circle in the corner of the sanctuary to share their own concerns or help pray for the concerns of others.  “Stay and Pray” with us!!
